A couple of days ago, at a seminar, a friend asked me how I chose which programs I would promote online and my answer was: “I picked the one that felt good!”
After the seminar, I started thinking and I knew that I gave him an incomplete answer. Whether it was because I was in a hurry, or just because my brain didn’t want to strain itself, I really don’t know.
But, I wanted to share with you some of my most recent thoughts on choosing the right product and the right program to promote. And, you don’t need an affiliate marketing guide to figure this out.
To choose the right program/product, you just have to ask some questions. It’s that simple! The 3 simple questions that you should be asking are:
1. Will the program/product provide value to the costumer?
In my opinion, this is a very important aspect in online affiliate marketing. A product that provides true value gives you credibility and integrity that will certainly help you make more sales in the future, but it also means that you have respect for the costumer and that you only have his best interest in mind.
2. Can this program/product give me residual income?
Residual income is income earned on an ongoing basis for a one-time effort. You get paid again and again for something that you had to do only once. This is an excellent reason for becoming an affiliate marketer. The benefits of residual income include the potential to put the business on autopilot and the ability to duplicate what you did before, investing your time in another project, without losing your ongoing income.
3. Can I relate to it and promote it passionately?
You have to know and understand the programs/products that you promote. Do your research and see if you can invest passion and interest into it. People who are passionate about their business and products are always making more money and having more success than the people who aren’t. Simple, right?
These are three very simple questions that you should ask before you choose products/programs that you wish to promote. And, trust me, affiliate marketing isn’t rocket science, although some will try to make it seem so (and sell their products to educate you). So, by getting these three questions answered you already have an advantage over 90% of your competition. And I assure you, you can find affiliate programs which will answer your questions with a yes. In fact, they might be just around the corner.
